I have recently got my driving licence back after a drink drive ban, Just wondering if it will be more expensive to hire a van for the day to move stuff to my new flat ? Or would it cost the same as anyone else renting it ?

when hiring they do not ask for previous convictions, meaning the price should be the same

If you are thinking like Uhaul – I believe all they require is a valid driver’s license (which you now have) and money. I don’t think you have to disclose that fact? I believe that is only on applications for say a delivery driver and insurance, things like that.
I don’t believe a company can discriminate against you for past problems. Once whatever state you are in reinstates your driver’s license that is all others need to know.
I may be wrong – you can check the website of the company you are considering hiring. Or you could “cold call” – call from a pay phone, friends phone, or block your number and ask the company that specific question without giving any information ( name, number, dates, etc). That way you get an absolute answer from the company instead of a guess from someone like me :)
But in my opinion, I do not believe they can hold that against you!
    Good luck! :)

Check carefully when you book it as some hire vehicle companies will not be able to hire out to someone with a DR endorsement code on the licence due to their insurers restrictions. Pre book and make sure they know about it beforehand.
If they do it it will not cost more
